Executive positions
The executive positions are elected at the May General Meeting and each Executive member is provided with a portfolio, which details the requirements for the job. These positions can be very rewarding and look great on a resume. The Executive meets the third Wednesday of each month.

President:
Responsible for coordinating the administration of the Preschool; does his/her best to see that the Executive and the Committees function properly for the Preschool to run smoothly and efficiently; the President chairs the General and Executive meetings.
Vice President: (one for the 3's class and one for the 4's class):
Assists the President with the administration of the Preschool; is a resource to other members in the execution of their jobs
Treasurer:
Responsible for all financial matters; maintains the Preschool financial records on a computerized bookkeeping program; the Treasurer has an assistant.
Secretary:
Keeps minutes; updates procedures and deals with correspondence.
Enrollment Chair:
Receives calls from people interested in the Preschool and establishes a list of those interested; explains the philosophy and workings for the Preschool to prospective members; collects registration documents and orients new families; arranges observation sessions for prospective members; the enrollment chair has an assistant-ideally from the other class.
Ways and Means Chair:
Plans and organizes fundraising activities to raise money in order to balance the budget; the Chair has a committee to share the workload.
Personnel Chair:
Promotes good communication within the Preschool and helps deal with any difficulties members may be having with jobs; the Personnel chair coordinates the annual Preschool evaluation and facilitates staff evaluations as necessary; the Personnel chair has an assistant in each class.
Public Relations:
Handles advertising and promotions throughout the year; organizes preschool open houses in the fall and in the spring; this position is an executive 'member at large' position.
Parent Education Coordinator:
Arranges education speakers for the monthly General meetings and maintains the parent education library; ensures that members who are unable to attend the General meeting complete alternate parent education; this position is an executive 'member at large' position.
Committees
Enrollment Assistant:
A parent in the 3's class who will be returning the following year is the ideal candidate; the assistant should be willing to take over the chair position the following year; see Enrollment Chair under Executive positions for more details.
Treasurer Assistant:
This is a good position for a new 3's parent with a bookkeeping background; should be willing to take over as Treasurer the following year.
Repair and Maintenance Chair:
Responsible for keeping the premises and equipment in good repair, this chair has a committee to share the workload.
Repair and Maintenance:(minimum of 2 people recommended)
Works with the Repair and Maintenance Chair, 'Handyman' experience required.
Resource Chair:
Assists the Teacher in preparing materials for the program; purchases art supplies, makes games and flannel board stories, collects materials for science projects, etc; this chair has a committee to share the workload.
Resource Committee: (minimum of 3 people)
Works with the Resource Chair.
Personnel: (one member from the 3's class and one member from the 4's class)

Social Chair:
Arranges refreshments for monthly General Meetings, open houses, special events and social events; organizes year-end Preschool picnic; assists other committee's as needed (i.e. Ways and Means, Public Relations).
Social Committee:(minimum 1 person recommended)
Works with Social Chairperson.
Ways and Means Committee: (minimum of 3 people recommended, balanced participation from each class)

Other positions
Inventory Controller:
Keeps records of incoming and outgoing inventory during the school year; organizes year end inventory and updates computer lists.
Special Events Coordinator:
Works closely with the Teacher to organize Preschool outings and special events (such as Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, etc); this includes keeping parents informed as to plans, and arrangements.
Cleaning:
Maintains the stock of cleaning supplies in the Preschool; schedules the monthly and year-end cleaning days; ensures that all the cleaning tasks are done on a monthly basis and the Preschool is opened and closed on cleaning nights.
Laundry:
Responsible for doing the Preschool laundry on a weekly basis.
Historian:
Maintains the Preschool camera and has the films developed; makes copies available to members; compiles a Preschool photo album of the years activities; books the professional photographer.
Scheduling and Internal Observations:
Organizes and circulates the duty days schedules for both classes; organizes an observation of a child if requested by parents
Librarian: *
Works with the Teacher to choose books from the public library and the Preschool library that reflect the current themes and topics.
Newsletter:
Collects submissions from members and reports from the committee chairs following the monthly Executive meeting; assembles and edits the newsletter; distributes the newsletter to each member in the week preceding the General Meeting.
Scholastic Book Club Coordinator: *
Coordinates and distributes the scholastic book club order.
Safety Parent: *
In charge of all aspects of maintaining a safe environment for our children; ensures that first aid supplies and earthquake supplies are updated as needed and that emergency procedures are maintained.
Liaison to Lynn Valley Elementary School: *
Collects mail from the Lynn Valley Elementary School and keeps the Elementary School informed of our activities; attend the Elementary School PAC meeting and/or obtains minutes of these meetings; this is a good job for a parent with older children attending this Elementary School.
